Ryan R. writes: The $10 fee to print my boarding pass was a surprise. So was the flight delay caused by the crew not showing up. Seriously. Apparently this is not uncommon.
Spirit also failed to provide hotel accommodations or vouchers, despite the flight being pushed back a full day.
The rescheduled flight was also delayed several hours - which the airline was aware of, but failed to inform customers who showed up for a 5am flight that wouldn't leave until after 10am. Ticket agent staff did not arrive until after the scheduled departure time.
I missed an important business meeting, which I had to reschedule for the following week, which caused me to miss more work. Not to mention the added cost of extending my stay, my rental car, and having to book my return on a completely different airline.
It probably goes without saying that the Spirit staff were completely rude and unhelpful and that everyone in line vowed never to fly Spirit again.
What a joke. How is this company still in business? They should be renamed Broken Spirit Airlines.
