Roberto R. writes: On April 11, the day before I had to board a Spirit Airlines plane from Fort Myers to Minneapolis, I was presented with fees for my carry-on bags and one checked bag. Thinking that if I became a member of the $9 Club I could get a cheaper price, I enrolled. The website never disclosed that I was making an annual purchase or that the $9 was per month and not per year. My credit card was charged about $60 for a one-year subscription. The following day, when I noticed the charge in my credit card, I went to the airline website and cancelled my club membership, expecting my money would be refunded because I ended up belonging to this club for one day - less than 24 hours. The airline refuses to refund me the fee.
Furthermore, the seats in this airline are not reclinable. There are no buttons to push to be more comfortable. In addition, I did not measure the leg inches but my normal-sized legs did not fit in the space. Apparently the airline has arranged the seats with almost no space in between rows of seats to accommodate more passengers.
Furthermore, I thought that I had purchased a seat when I purchased my ticket, but when I went to "reserve" my seat, all the seats "were taken" except those seats that require you to pay extra. I ended up paying $15.00 extra each for two seats because I was afraid that I was not going to get any seats. Then in the airport I saw that a few passengers did not obtain seats. Their seats had been sold because they did not "reserve" a seat. Go figure!
It was a painful and terrible experience. I will certainly NEVER use this airline again.
