I traveled to Panama with my fiance using this airline because it was the cheapest we could find. Boy, did we get what we paid for. The service is horrendous. On our way to Panama the flight was an hour late, for which they gave absolutely no reason at all. Wait, did I mention the outrageous baggage prices? Yup, outrageous, not in a funny way either. Anyway, we arrived an hour late around 2:30 in the morning because, why not? We both sort of dismissed it mainly because we were tired and wanted to get to our hotel which was an hour and a half drive from the city of Panama.
On our last day in Panama we decided to leave the hotel at 9:30 pm to get to the airport by midnight since our flight was at 2 am. When we get to the receptionist she makes sure to tell us that we won't be leaving Panama until 4:25pm the same day. She tells us this as if it was a normal thing to say to people because said people apparently do not have any other priorities back home. We spoke to the manager, and he said that there was a miscommunication and that we were only delayed for a couple of hours. What a relief! Instead of leaving at 2am we will be leaving at 4 or 5 am! Thank goodness for Spirit Airlines! Did I mention that we will be stuck in Fort lauderdale, Florida until 4:25pm? So that is what the receptionist meant! She sure was something!
Our flight was delayed in the first place because there was bad weather in Chicago which was our final destination even though in Chicago it is 75 degrees with clear skies as I write this. There isn't any bad weather anywhere in the midwest as I write this. These people are lying to our faces and refuse to compensate us for any inconvenience that comes our way. They just keep pushing back our flight because of imaginary bad weather.
I am sure that there are people with worse experiences with this airline. This was our first time flying with them and we have seen and experienced more than enough to stay away from them next time we plan a vacation. They are not equipped to handle these kinds of situations and are very unprofessional with their customers. They are cheaper than other airlines, but you are better off paying more money if it means getting superior service from any other airline. I am aware not everyone has the luxury of paying more money but it may be a good idea to at least take into account other people's advice to prevent any future inconveniences.
