Patricia writes: On our return flight from St. Thomas to Myrtle Beach, we were told that we could check the 6 bottles of Cruzan rum that we had purchased in the Virgin Islands for free.
When we got to the baggage claim in Myrtle Beach, the bottle of the packing box was soaked and still taped shut, and 3 out of the 6 liter bottles had been smashed and then put on the baggage claim carousel like nothing had happened. No one said ,"there's a problem with your package" or anything. The baggage handlers know very well what is in those boxes and they must have thrown it like a football to completely smash 3 out of 6 liter bottles. This was no little bump to the box . This was a very smooth flight without turbulence.
When I went to the counter to complain, I was told that there was never any reimbursement for damaged alcohol but that I could still fill out a form and make a claim. I will file that claim but it sounds like absolutely nothing will come of this although they totally were at fault and damaged my personal belongings.
