Jia writes: We arrived at the airport at 7:30am on May 17 for a Spirit flight departing at 9:00am. There was a long line in front of us. They were all waiting to rebook because their flights were oversold.
We were asked to wait in the corner. After an hour, the supervisor told us we were bumped to a US Airways flight. The flight departed at 5:15pm. So we went to US Airways. The US Airways agent said we did not have tickets for their flight because Spirit had not paid them. So we went back to the Spirit agents.
The Spirit agents told us to wait an hour for their money to be transferred. So we waited for an hour, then tried to check in again with US Airways. Still no tickets!! So we went back to the Spirit agents again!!
I talked to the supervisor and told her US Airways STILL couldn't issue the tickets. She did not even bother looking at me and said, "you checked in too early," then walked away. I believed her. I realize now how stupid I was to believe her. I waited until 3:30pm and tried to check in one more time with US Airways. Still no tickets!!! At that time, I saw four other parties having the same problem. We went to the Spirit Airlines counter again. The agents from the morning shift were gone. The afternoon shift told us "we will look into this" then walked away.
We waited waited waited. The US Airways 5:15pm flight was gone! The afternoon supervisor finally showed up after another unhappy Spirit customer pounded on the door and yelled. We finally got the REAL boarding passes for a flight at 7:30pm. It was one stop and we arrived at the hotel at 3am the next day. We wasted 15 hours on this stupid airline!!!!
One more complaint I'd like to share is they do not assign seats randomly at all. On the return flight, another family who sat in the same row were assigned to B, D and F and we were assigned to A, C and E. Does this seem random???? They deliberately split a family and ask them to pay for changing seats.
