I booked a round trip flight on Spirit to fly from LGA to FLL for the weekend. I unfortunately missed my departing flight and had to purchase another ticket on Spirit for a much higher cost. If this was the end of my story I wouldn't be writing here.
This morning I arrived at the airport to board my return flight back to New York, only to learn that Spirit cancelled my reservation for this morning without notice or warning. They further claimed they are keeping all monies paid for this mornings flight.
They claim their policy is, "If you miss a flight, your entire reservation is forfeited and you loss all money paid."
This, in my opinion, is nothing more than stealing! I spent an hour on the phone with Spirit agents who were unable to provide me with anything on their web site that states you will loose all money on future flights due to a missed flight.
I've filed a complaint with the Department of Transportation and my credit card company. We can not let this airline steal money from hard working people.
